If you just had a ductless heat pump installed in your home, here are four tips that will help ensure that you use your new ductless heat system in the most efficient and effective way possible.
#1 Use The Heat & Cool Modes
Although there is an auto mode on your new ductless heating system, the auto mode is often not the most effective mode to use, especially if you live in an area of the country that has distinct hot and cold periods of the year. During the colder months of the year, you should set your system to the heat mode. During the warmer months of the year, you should set your system to the cool mode. You are going to want to make sure that you set all of your zones, if you are using a multi-zone set-up, to the same mode for the most effective heating and cooling.
During the spring and fall, when the temperatures vary and heating and cooling may be necessary in the same day, auto mode may be most appropriate.
#2 Stick To The Auto Fan Speed
When setting the fan speed, it is best to just set the fan speed to auto. That way, you will not have to manually adjust it. Setting the fan speed to auto also allows your ductless heating system to adjust the fan speed to the level that is necessary for your system to work as effectively as possible. Sticking to the auto fan speed throughout the year is the best way to ensure that your fan speed meets your heating and cooling needs and allows your system to run itself.
#3 Keep The Temperature Setting Consistent
With a ductless heating system, you should not be changing the temperature setting on the system throughout the day. Ductless heating systems are designed to keep your house at a set, comfortable temperature and will adjust all settings on its own to meet the temperature level that you find comfortable. Figure out what temperature is comfortable for you, be that sixty-eight degrees or seventy-four, and keep your system set to that temperature.
#4 Clean The Filters
Finally, in order to ensure that your system works as effectively as possible, it is important that you clean your filters. Most ductless heating systems use filters that can be cleaned instead of replaced when they get dirty. Following the specific cleaning instructions for your heating system, try to clean your filters every other month or so to ensure that the air you are breathing is as clean and free of contaminants as possible. Keeping your filters clean will also allow your ductless heating system to work as effectively as possible.Share

When I bought my first home, I was terribly inexperienced when it came to maintaining it. It seemed as if something was always broken. After spending a weekend battling with my oven, I decided that I enough was enough. I started reading everything I could about things related to the home. By the end of my research, I still could not fix my plumbing, but I could look knowledgeable as the plumber explained what was wrong. In an effort to help others avoid the tedious task of reading book after book about plumbing and appliance repairs, I started this blog. Hopefully, this information will save someone from a weekend spent wrestling with their own appliances.
